December 20 -- THE RIGHT LINES OF WORK —My Utmost For His Highest

"I, if I be lifted up, will draw all men unto Me" (John 12:32).

Very few of us have any understanding of the reason why Jesus Christ died. If sympathy is all that human beings need, then the Cross of Christ is a farce, there was no need for it. What the world needs is not "a little bit of love," but a surgical operation.

When you are face to face with a soul in difficulty spiritually, remind yourself of Jesus Christ on the Cross. If that soul can get to God on any other line, then the Cross of Jesus Christ is unnecessary. If you can help others by your sympathy or understanding, you are a traitor to Jesus Christ. You have to keep your soul rightly related to God and pour out for others on His line, not pour out on the human line and ignore God. The great note today is amiable religiosity.

The one thing we have to do is to exhibit Jesus Christ crucified, to lift Him up all the time. Every doctrine that is not imbedded in the Cross of Jesus will lead astray. If the worker himself believes in Jesus Christ and is banking on the Reality of Redemption, the people he talks to must be concerned. The thing that remains and deepens is the workers simple relationship to Jesus Christ; his usefulness to God depends on that and that alone.

The calling of a New Testament worker is to uncover sin and to reveal Jesus Christ as Saviour, consequently he cannot be poetical, he must be sternly surgical. We are sent by God to lift up Jesus Christ, not to give wonderfully beautiful discourses. We have to probe straight down as deeply as God has probed us, to be keen in sensing the Scriptures which bring the truth straight home and to apply them fearlessly.

—My Utmost For His Highest

I Failed

I am no song or poem writer, but in my sorrowful spirit this is what I have left.
I am merely a man, I keep no word, no vow, but He love me the same.
Whether I am a boy or a man, I know I cry not because I fail
It is because I love Him, and He treat me like a man.

Down on the ground, my trembling soul cling to Your feet.

I have failed You and I have fail man

Dignity I do no have, integrity I do not own

I served my pride; I served my pain.

My name only built upon the praise of man

Why are you so mindful of me?

I have failed you and I have fail man.

Why do you believe in me?

I fail but I am full of grace

I fail but I am full of praise

You have found me less than what I am

but You love me as I am.

Up in Heaven, your sovereign voice calls out my name.

You comfort me and you embrace me.

Transgression You do not look; Iniquity You do not seek;

break my pride, heal my pain

Your name shall be praise by all man

For You have never forsake any man.

I fail but I am full of grace

I fail but I am full of praise

I've found you more than what I know

Teach me to love you with all I am

Remember me Oh Lord, You know how I am formed

No word, no vow, but only love remain.

Give me a new spirit oh God
Let Your spirit and love remain

I have spent all day yesterday to find solution for the dust mites on my guitar and case. It is such a weast of time and my guitar still have some dust mites on it (>, < ). It is just like how Jesus put it, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt 6:19-21 (NIV)

Anyway, beside the above insight, I've also learn a valuable insight from my dream last night. I have dream that I went on a retreat with the church. There is a first come first serve signing list by the door. I came to the place early. There were a few people also came early and they are lining up to sign up. I was warned that the route sheet is limited, but because I did not want to wait, I went on and do other things. I was hanging around watching people playing volleyball, yet I did not join in and play. A moment later, I remember the route sheet again. I went there and find that the sheet is extremely full. People even drew boxes around to put their name on the sheet. Just as I about to jump in to sign the sheet, a sister comes in the scene and said people should not draw boxes on the side. The limit is full and all the rest of the boxes will not count. I felt angry at myself and regret that I did not wait for the short little line a moment ago and now I lost my spot. Even I was in the retreat in the beginning, and everyone thought that I am on the list, but in reality I am not. Graciously Pastor Wong has opened up more space and asked people to sign in a second sheet. It was then I realize so many other has not been on the list and yet in the retreat. Moreover, I was hesitating to sign up because I am feeling stupid and angry that I could not get on the first list. All that time I could have waited to sign up yet I went on to do so many meaningless deeds. In the end, I saw myself got really tired and fell asleep on a bed there. I never knew whether I have sign up or not.

I am so grad that the “Book of Life” in heaven does not have a limit; however, our lives do have a time limit. Many people today in church come to know Jesus very early in their childhood like I do. Nevertheless, they have never come to Jesus and sign up in the book of life. They stay within our church, but they have never have a communion with Christ. As a reasult, neither they had come to join in for a community life with the church nor with Christ. When they find out that they are different from the body of Christ, they felt angry toward many things: Why did I sign up earlier? Why didn’t people tell me that I should sign up when my time to sign is almost up? Why didn’t they see the different in me? In the end, some of these in the group end up walk away with a pride that could hurt them eternally.

Do you have a life with Christ today? Are you sure your name is in the Book of Life? Is Christ lord over your life? Are you still remains being transform by Christ? When is the last time you read His words and pray? Do you want to spend your life being an observer or you rather to accept the invitation of Christ to be involved in His Kingdom? Let go of your past and gauges that pull you away from our loving Father, for He said that “If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek, crave, and require of necessity My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” 2 Chron 7:14 (AMP)

"You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life."--John 5:39-40 (NIV)

Scripture is the word of God, but not God himself. With the various translations that is out there for the Bible, people might ask, what is the most accurate translation compare to the original language? Well, back in Jesus' time, when people has the original text and write in their mother tongue, if they could diligently study the scripture and yet still miss the point that the Scripture is testifying about Jesus, why is it important to find which translation is best? Don't miss my point here, I am not saying diligently studying the scripture is wrong. The point is while we read His word, have we miss Jesus. Have we come to Him to seek life? We heard the saying: "No spiritual life can be better than one's prayer life." If my prayer life is weak, so is my spiritual life.

"I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure." Matt 11:25-26 (NIV)

Why little children?
Jean Piaget (1932/1965)
–In the conclusion of his research, this is how little children think of right and wrong…

  • Absolute - There is only black and white, no gray area.
  • How much physical damage was done - the more you break it, the more wrong you are.
  • Whether an act will evoke punishment - if I am not punished, that mean I am right.
  • Rules - anything outside rules is wrong.
  • It is wrong to disobey an adult - if you are adult, whatever you said is truth and sound.

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." Luke 18:16-18

Peace be with you!prayer2
